Welcome to the Twinning website!

Ready for this year's fundraising Bar-B-Q! *** Michael and Linda get ready to serve the best burgers in Radcliffe!***

Our Fundraising Bar-B-Q - July 10th |
On July 10th we ran our fundraising Bar-B-Q at the Radcliffe carnival. Like every year we can remember - the sun shone very brightly - and the burgers tasted great! Once again we sold everything we had.
Many thanks to Alan for organising us all and to the many carnival customers who supported us. A special thanks to the six-form students from Dayncourt - Jack, Sam and Sophie - who helped us out at the busiest time of the day.
Steve presented us with a new bar-b-q which performed magnificently once he and Alan had spent 2 hours putting it together! .. and we had a french visitor Daphne, pop in to support us. She is over visiting Radcliffe from Bussy-St-Georges (staying with Elen Simms).
Some pictures of the Bar-B-Q are available in the gallery on the web-site.
Well done to everyone involved.
John R.

Elen Sims visits Bussy-St-Georges - Her story in French and English! |
Elen Sims
My twinning experience
I decided to go to Bussy with the twinning in order to improve and practice my French because at the moment I am taking my A Level in French. Before leaving I confess that I was both nervous and excited because it was my first trip with the twinning. After arriving I met my host family who were very nice and funny, and then we went to a wine fair where I drank some wine while learning about the wine making process. Moreover I met the leader of the local Lions which I enjoyed because my father is a member of the Radcliffe Lions. After that we ate the most delicious meal at my host family’s home! I realised that eating together as a family is very important in the French way of life. Next, we visited the cathedral of Meaux and the Bossuet garden. I was shocked to learn that peanuts grow under the ground! In the evening we went to the celebration in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the twinning. There was a huge buffet; I am convinced that dessert was the best I’ve ever had! On Sunday we spent the entire day in Paris, it was great, in my opinion the scavenger hunt in particular! We ate a meal with the friends of the twinning and I discovered that vegetarianism isn’t widespread in France in comparison to Great Britain. To sum up I’ve had a fantastic experience with the twinning and I can say without a doubt that I would do it again. That being said, as a newcomer to the twinning I would recommend it to anyone who would like to make friends, learn about the French way of life and have memorable experiences. Thanks to everyone who participated in the twinning. Long live the twinning! Elen Sims

Birthday Visit in October to Bussy |
We have just returned from a fantastic visit to Bussy-St-Georges in October.
We celebrated our 10th birthday in style. We were really treated by our French friends who laid on a tremendous programme of events! Including - a formal buffet meal with the Mayor complete with "Moulin Rouge" style entertainment! a treasure hunt through Paris, a boat trip up the Seine and finally, a delightful, intimate evening meal in Montmartre where we finished the meal with a birthday cake and candles.
Present were exchanged and everyone had a great time. New friends were made and old friendships renewed!
many, many thanks to all those who worked so hard to make the visit such a success.
