Daphné Cuidet (Sylvie Schneider's daughter) - Visits Radcliffe! |
As a result of the exchange visit to Bussy, a return trip to Radcliffe-on-Trent was made by 17 year old Daphné Cuidet (Sylvie Schneider's daughter) who stayed for 12 days with Louise Mote. See some photos in the website gallery! During her visit, Daphné met lots of young people in both Radcliffe-on-Trent and Gamston and visited some of Nottinghamshire's traditional sites, including; Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall and Belvoir Castle and made a visit to Newark. Louise and Daphné also went to Warwick Castle where a highlight for Daphné was being photographed with The Queen .... well a wax work likeness! She also enjoyed some of our typically English pastimes; afternoon tea at Colston Bassett's Tea Room, a Garden Open Day here in Radcliffe-on-Trent, 'pub-grub' and 'a little 'retail-therapy' in Nottingham! During her stay Daphné was also entertained by three families in Gamston (The Corbyns, Downes and Jennings) A big thank you must go to other members of the Twinning Association who entertained Daphné whilst Louise was at work, in particular Jane Enoch, Anna Powis and Helen Reed. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Radcliffe!

Helen Reed and Anna Powis - work experience in Bussy |
Helen and Anna have recently been over to Bussy-St-Georges to work in the Town Hall. Both girls are actively studying French - Helen at the University of Birmingham and Anna as part of her A level studies.
Stefan showed Helen and Anna around Bussy - for example the gyms and the Mediatheque where the girls were shown how the library system works. He also took the girls on a tour of the Town Hall and introduced them to all of the staff.
Marianna explained about the calendar for next year and how they are trying to promote different countries and cultures in Bussy. The girls did research on 'La Grand'place' and 'L'eglise du Val'.
Helen said "It was a great opportunity to learn about the administration in Bussy and to experience the french world of work - thanks to everyone for making our time so enjoyable! Everyone at the Town Hall was really friendly and it has re-inforced my interest in the French language and culture".

The Twinning Visit to Bussy! |
The visit to Bussy by all accounts was a great success!
The group visited a nearby village, saw a spectacular display of falconry (See the photos in the gallery) and of course, had a great time with all of our friends in Bussy. It was a chance to strengthen many of the friendships that have grown over the years and for new people to meet and get to know one another better.
Many thanks to everyone in Bussy for making our visit so enjoyable.
